What is your professional background?
After graduating from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management in the Spring of 2021, I began working at North State Development, bringing several years of construction experience in delivering projects on time and within budget. With North State Development, I am a Land Development Project Manager, where I manage the acquisition and development of real estate projects in the Charlotte market. Before North State Development, I worked for several years as a project intern for Batson-Cook Construction on the construction of the First National Bank Tower in Uptown Charlotte.
What motivated you to pursue this program?
My goal in pursuing the MSRE program is to further my knowledge in real estate development. My internship and undergraduate studies gave me a solid foundation to understanding the construction aspect of a project but there is so much more to learn about what goes into the complete process of developing a successful project. The MSRE program offers me the opportunity to better understand that process and develop the necessary skill sets needed. Between the curriculum, the student managed real estate investment fund, and the mentorship program; the MSRE program has the ideal environment to greatly deepen my understanding of the development and financing that goes into successful real estate projects.
How would you describe the M.S. in Real Estate to someone who is considering pursuing this master's degree?
As a first semester student, the MSRE program has already begun expanding my knowledge of the real estate industry. The program has helped me grow my professional network through the introduction of successful individuals who are part of the program, alumni of the program, or industry professionals involved with the program. Joining the MSRE program will definitely have a positive effect on your career in the real estate industry.
