Childress Klein Center for Real Estate
The Childress Klein Center for Real Estate was established in 2005 with support from Charlotte, NC, real estate industry and program alumni. Their financial contributions have supported course development, scholarships for incoming graduate students, special events and community outreach activities.
The Childress Klein Center for Real Estate administers the following programs:
- Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program
- M.S. in Real Estate and Master of Business Administration (MBA) dual degree
- Real Estate Finance and Development Concentration in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program
- Graduate certificate programs in Real Estate Finance and Development
- Undergraduate Concentration in the Finance major
Additionally, the Center manages programming and outreach to the Real Estate Alumni Association and Real Estate Advisory Board.

Interdisciplinary Graduate Education
Recruit and attract the top students seeking comprehensive and interdisciplinary graduate education in commercial real estate studies, using faculty and practitioners to combine academic theory with industry best practices.
Innovative Research in Real Estate and Urban Economics
Provide academic research and expertise that guide decision-making and offer solutions for urban development, land use, investment, and capital market issues and foster innovative theory, policy, and practice.
Strategic Collaborations with Industry
Become a critical link between academics and industry, students and the community, and public and private sectors, including partnering with key trade organizations, an advisory board of real estate professionals, and other affiliated groups to provide community outreach on current industry issues, to collaborate on applied research and to enrich professional networks for our students and alumni.
Research
Our faculty provide research and expertise that guides decision-making and offers solutions for urban development, land use, investment and capital market issues while fostering innovative theory, policy and practice. Our program has been ranked among the 20 most active research institutions in real estate for the past decade.
The annual “State of Housing in Charlotte” report, first released in 2019, is part of a multi-year project, led by Belk College of Business faculty, that serves as a critical piece of research and starting point for discussion regarding housing policy in the Charlotte region.
Accreditation
AACSB

SACSCOC
UNC Charlotte is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees. UNC Charlotte also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
