What is your professional background?

Prior to pursuing my MBA and MSRE at UNCC I was an Engineer Officer in the United States Army.  Army Engineers are well known for being the problem solvers or the "jack of all trades, master of none," but roles and responsibilities can be translated to project management, construction management, and organizational leadership in high-pressure, operational settings.

Upon entry into the MBA and MSRE programs I have had the opportunity to intern with firms involved in real estate investment, development, leasing, and asset management.  During these internships I was assigned roles to conduct and support financial analysis, underwriting, market analysis, and preparation of investment materials for various acquisition opportunities.

What motivated you to pursue this program?

I am pursuing the dual MBA and MSRE degree program in order to bridge the gap between the military and a successful career in commercial real estate.  It's important to me to begin my new career with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of real estate as well as being able to execute the technical analysis required.

How would you describe the M.S. in Real Estate to someone who is considering pursuing this master’s degree?

The MSRE program can, at times, feel as though you're drinking from a firehose.  While this feeling doesn't particularly subside, the support and industry knowledge from the core and adjunct staff foster a great learning environment and will continue to challenge you.
