Senior Real Estate Manager, transitioning into Asset Manager with Collett Capital
2019
What is your professional background? I entered the commercial property management industry in 2003 as an assistant property manager in Class A office. Over the years I've managed a diverse portfolio of office, retail and industrial properties throughout the Southeast. I've been with the Collett team managing mostly third part retail for the past five years.

What were your motivations for pursuing the MSRE?  Although I'm grateful for the foundation I've built over the years, I knew that I needed to hone my financial analysis skills and deepen my understanding of the overall investment process if I wanted to advance my career beyond property management. Although I wasn't sure where I would land at the end of the program, I'm fortunate that the Collett Capital team has been able to create a new role for me as I move into acquisitions and asset management for a growing shopping center portfolio. Being apart of the Student Managed Real Estate Investment Fund has been instrumental in the preparation for my new role.

What drew you to the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate?  The program is led by Charlotte's most prominent real estate professionals and leaders, which ensured practical and relevant coursework and experience. I knew the program content would be instantly transferable and improve my ability to add value for both clients and teammates. The convenience of the location and flexibility to work the program in my own time was also essential since I was pregnant at the time I enrolled.
