The Diversity & Inclusion Committee is an iniative launched by the Alumni for the Center for Real Estate (ACRE) board in early 2021. This sub-committee strives to implement a vision for diversity in real estate through outreach, communication and events.

Impact Vision

1. Create an environment where students of diverse backgrounds can feel safe to be themselves and where their diversity is celebrated and elevated.
 
2. Becoming a more attractive program for people of diverse backgrounds, and increase
program representation with a sense of urgency/immediacy.

3. Increase diversity of program leadership (boards, faculty, lead speakers).

4. University to serve as a catalyst for employers to successfully implement healthy diverse work environments.
 

 

#PAst events

NC Women’s Affordable Housing Network Lunch & Learn, December 2021

On December 9, 2021, director of the MSRE program, Daniel Wright, and D&I co-chair, Liz Ward, participated in a lunch & learn on higher education opportunities in Real Estate in North Carolina.  In addition to UNCC, this virtual event also featured representatives from UNC-Chapel Hill Department of City & Regional Planning and UNC-Greensboro Center for Housing Policy.  You can access the recording here.

#CREFUTURE, March 2021

On March 19, 2021, the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate along with the ACRE board hosted the Spring 2021 #CREfuture.  This virtual event featured a panel discussion on the future of Diversity and Inclusion in Commercial Real Estate. Young professionals in the field discussed their experiences and ways to improve in this timely discussion.
